 Here are a collection of thumbnails that I quickly drew up when thinking about the theme of the discovery channel, I need to think about how the ident comes across to the audience as the angle that the channel comes from is an educational informative one. It would also help to see what existing idents for the channel look like, how simple or complex they are in their delivery.
