Identify - 'Big Bang Boom' - Blu (OUAN403)
This animation is very innovative in the way that the artist has used stop motion animation on such a large scale and to have the artwork interact with real-world objects such as litter, buildings, furniture and other ephemera.
i think the artist, Blu, has taken into consideration the different shapes of the buildings that he has utilised in the animation and how the animation would flow as a whole, this comes across stronglyas each stage of the animations narrative flows very smoothly from one to the next. the animation communicates a narrative of evolution - from the 'Big Bang', to cell formation, sea creatures, first land dwelling inhabitants to the evolution of man and our own self destruction.
Being critical of this piece of work i would say that if the camera shots had been more stable it would make it easier for the audience to watch, instead of trying hard to focus on what is happening on screen, one could argue that this was the intention of the artist so as to keep the audience captivated.
The sound design in the animation helps to further describe what it is that is happening on screen, for example, from 08:20 onwards there is a beeping sound- which gets faster -communicating the anticipation of something about to happen.
